Fernando Barrios Benavides

The work of Fernando Barrios starts with the practice of drawing from life. Fernando focused on portraying his colleagues, family, unknown people in a very realistic way until developing his art in the creations we find now.

This drawing practice allows him to understand deeply the construction and shape of the face, learning how to repeat the process by heart. After this, Fernando focuses his attention on his memories and idealized shapes that, slowly, are transformed by his imagination away from reality.

These forms, found each one in a different stage of his work, combine themselves and en up overlapping, in a way that each portrait can be at once a conglomerate of several ones.

Each work finds his genesis in another previous one, and the "mistakes" represent the main contribution to new works.
