Amanda Arruti is originally from San Sebastián, a coastal city in the Basque Country, Spain. She studied for a Bachelor's Degree in the Fine Arts at the Basque Country University, specialising in audio-visual arts.
She moved to Berlin in 2016, where she currently lives, creates and works on several artistic projects. Mermaids are anonymous women that serve as archetypal spiritual beings as well as representations of water. They are immersed in the depths of their own existence; unable to communicate, unable to breathe, at one with nature, they are only able to listen to their inner voice. Water is the perfect medium to translate this intimate image because of its unstable nature. Pictorially speaking, it allows for a mixture of Art's two richest languages, abstraction and realism.
