Thomas Ahl

Born in Sweden, in the Lake District, where nature and the light of the North are the most intense, Thomas Ahl began to draw very young and, as a child, filled out notebooks. As a teenager, he opened up to painting and continued his training as an autodidact. Solitary, Thomas Ahl observes life, goes to museums and studies the works of the great masters. He touches all media: watercolor, pastel, gouache, ink, oil and acrylic. After a stay in London, then in Paris, he falls in love with France, where he settles down and is inspired by what surrounds him. Thomas Ahl is an artist particularly sensitive to people, dreams and the emotions they convey. He retranslates this world which he perceives in often strong colors. His works remain in your memory ... The harmony of colors is at the heart of his paintings because for him this is where the poetry of a painting and of life resides and this is what drives him to paint. He spontaneously plays on various themes where the imagination always takes the upper hand ... His imagination guides him in complete freedom towards lines from which characters appear out of nowhere. He likes chromatic flights, and for that he uses bright and dynamic colors, blue, orange, red, which often dominate the initial drawing, the contours of which he likes to emphasize, thus giving intensity to the scene. His latest works focus on a gallery of strong and dynamic images of contemporary characters, combining figurative and abstract painting, shapes and colors. Thomas Ahl offers a journey between dream and reality: an open door to imagination and life.
