Presentation

Paul Oz is a British visual artist and sculptor best known for his explosive portrait paintings made with a thick layer of oil and acrylic paint, taking images of real people and fictional characters that we often encounter in the media and re-interpreting them in his distinctive style. He mostly uses large-scale canvas, and applies paint in layers and splashes, sometimes achieving up to two centimetres of thickness.

The themes of his work are inspired by his personal obsessions such as Formula 1, which he visits every year and being a sportsman himself he portrays the legendary drivers, such as Senna and Schumacher, in action and moments of contemplation. Similarly, the Star Wars saga has been a fond childhood memory, and his depictions of the characters has enabled him to become a part of the official Star Wars shows. His other sci-fi portrayals has included him in the 50 Years of Star Trek show, and similar.

Paul Oz has been officially licensed artist to James Hunt, Dennis the Menace and Ali, and he has been commissioned work for British Olympic Champions, Team Sky, Sir Alex Ferguson, Red Bull and Pirelli, among many others. His work has been regularly featured at the GP Ball, Monaco GP, Singapore GP, as well as Selfridges Oxford St, Harrods, and Goodwood Festival of Speed ITV4 show.
