Ashley Darran is a London and Essex based Threat Portrait Artist. With a degree in Product and Furniture Design and a background in making bespoke chandeliers, he creates incredibly detailed and intricate portraits of famous faces using nothing but nails, thread, wood and a lot of patience.
His main aims are to explore the limitations of the materials he’s used to working with and creating work that’s still a bit raw and different to anything that has been seen before. Up close you can see the layers and the thought behind each strand of thread, and from a distance you get to appreciate the overall effect.
