Presentation

Anya Gallaccio is a British artist born in 1963. She studied at the Kingston Polytechnic College and then at the Goldsmith College in London.

Her work focuses on a research about change and transformation. She even includes sometimes vegetal elements in her pieces, following always the idea of transformation, this time caused by time and natural decomposition.

Anya Gallaccio is strongly influenced by the work of the Arte Povera movement and by artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Jannis Kounellis and Marcel Broodthaers, especially in her choice of material and the conceptual dimension of her pieces.

She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2003, and her work is part of several important collections such as those at the Tate Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and at the South London Gallery in London.
