Born in 1975 - United Kingdom
Sebastien Levigne is a French artist; born in Rocheford sur Mer, France in 1975.
While studying Bio-Chemistry, Levigne discovered at the age of 20 the work of Jean-Claude Roy who made a big impression on him and marked him forever. During almost seven years he spent all his evenings and weekends painting and trying to find his own artistic style.
Sébastien Levigne uses a mixture of paint and collage to explore urban topics. His work focuses primarily on walls and the traces left on the walls by man.
Letters and symbolic elements are the major characteristics of his work: figures and everyday/familiar colloquialisms, references to evolution and achievement such as ladders, stairs or the hopscotch.
Individuals are the main topic of his work. The way he choses the topics for his pieces remains anecdotal and his art is at the edge of abstraction.
