Presentation

Born in 1982, Tom French grew up in Newcastle, North East England.

Tom began his studies at the Newcastle School of Art and Design and went on to graduate from the Sheffield Institute of Art and Design achieving a first class BA Honors in 2005.

We are immersed in a dark universe where black and white skulls prevail. These skulls are realistically illustrated but nevertheless depict a surrealist universe inhabited by human forms. Portraits of men and women emerge from the void where eyes should be, treading the fine line between life and death, the conscious and the subconscious.

Tom French begins his paintings using charcoal, bringing depth to his work before completing them with paint, acrylic or ink.

The artist created the album cover for the famous "Donnie Darko" soundtrack. His work has been exposed in the UK and US, particularly at the Lawrence Akin Gallery in 2014, at the London Art Fair and at the Scope art shows in New York and Miami. In 2013, his work figured on the cover of "Los Angeles Where" and "Upstart Magazine".
