Neil Douglas

Born in 1978 - United Kingdom

Neil Douglas is an English artist, born in 1978 in Bristol, England. In 1996, he studied at Weston-super-Mare College of Art then joined the Wolverhampton University from 1997 until 2000.

One can sense the influence of photography and film in his painting, and he highlights his sketches and observations on life. Through the use of his past researches, he uses hyper-realistic representations, with the aim of finding a new stylistic language, capable of including modern technologies.

The "urban landscapes" stands out with new paintings, either by the backdrop or as the main focus. Neil Douglas is fascinated by city, textures and architectural forms but also the deconstruction levels of artificial environments. This can clearly be seen in his painting procedure and especially in his various mediums. He uses a variety of materials like plaster and clay to build various textural zones. This way, he can explore the reaction of color on the surface and how it manages to change the manufacturing process to create several levels of realism.

These past few years, he has mainly exhibited in London and New York.
