Kieva Campbell’s paintings use automatic writing and high-contrast colors and contours to reconcile the duality of mind and body. Layers of quick gestures and atmospheric forms illustrate an interplay of sensation, emotion, and cognition.
Campbell explains that her method aims to create a “visual translation of the inside of the brain” and to “express the moods and tones of the physical self". Campbell received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Pratt Institute. A California native, she works in both Los Angeles and New York.
