Martin Boyle

Born in 1957 - United States

Martin Boyle was born in Cleveland in 1957 and currently lives in the Boston area.

Martin Boyle is an undisputed master of optical illusion, he plays with our need for instant gratification by inviting us to look at his paintings from another angle, in the physical as well as in figurative sense.

His paintings are generally clear, harmonious and of simple discretion. Sometimes at the margins of some of his paintings, the artist draws his own profile, as the old Dutch masters use to do. These mythological memories, as well as the purity and the precision of the line, reflect the prevailing classicism on the Fine Arts education in American universities.
