Presentation

Tony Curanaj is an American artist born in 1973 in New York. He studied at the School of Visual Arts, at the National Academy of Desgin and at the Water Street Workshop - A renowned institution dedicated to pictorial realism techniques. He currently teaches drawing at the Grand Central Academy of New York.

Tony Curanaj is known for his classical inspiration figurative paintings, although he actively began on the graffiti scene in New York, under the pseudonym "SUB", as the creator of the "D.F." crew. It is the quality of his artworks that led him to work as a designer and painter for Disney before deciding to entirely focus on his passion for pictorial realism.

With a mastery of the techniques worthy of the great masters, Tony Curanaj represents both classical and avant-garde subjects as still lifes, anatomical studies, and trompe l'oeil scenes, from birds to insects and the memento mori.

He has recently presented exhibitions at the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York (2015 and 2014) and at the 1261 Gallery in Denver (2015). He was also the subject of an article in the Huffington Post magazine in November 2015.
