Presentation

Giancarlo Impiglia is an Italian artist born in Rome in 1940. He studied at the Liceo Artistico and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. During that time, he specialized in doing mosaics and mural compositions. He then started studying photography and cinema. In 1974, after he graduated, he moved to the United States, where he currently lives and works.

Giancarlo Impiglia draws his inspiration from life in the city to paint his very colorful and dynamic canvases. He juxtaposes static images and geometric shapes in order to create the illusion of movement. Depicting human lives which he likes representing, his creations are full of love, joy, festivities, loneliness and lust.
It is society in general that he likes representing. From worldliness to precariousness, nothing frightens the painter who draws his inspiration from the human genre and its way of acting in society. Frozen individuals on his canvases, without a face, are deprived of any identity.

Impiglia's work is exhibited all around Europe and America, in private and public collections.
