Harold Feinstein is an American photographer, born in New York in 1931 and passed away in June 2015. He began photography at the age of 15 and four years later, Edward Steichen (museum curator of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York bought one of his photos and this made the artist the youngest photographer to be part of the permanent collection of the museum, Harold Feinstein still holds this record today.

Harold Feinstein has been an important avant-garde figure of New York since the beginning of his career. His work which amounted to more than sixty years, is a portrait of America and highlights its most lively and exuberant aspects. When he passed way in 2015, New York Times considered him as "one of the most accomplished archivists of the American experience".

Harold Feinstein's work was exhibited for the first time in 1954 at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Since them, they have been part of prestigious permanent and private collections of major American museums, like Museum of Modern Art, International Center of Photography, Museum of Photographic Arts but also the City Museum of New York.
