  • About the artwork

The series "Diary Fragments" is part of a long-term project the artist has kept his sketchbook drawing daily for two years. It all begins in 2010: Mario Kolaric meets his books and embarks on this series. "Fragment 1" is then the true origin of the collection.

Fineliner working only on the drawing paper, the artist deliberately uses the simplicity of the medium and translates it into a daily practice in which moods and emotions are reflected, where every page a new beginning with all the hopes and doubts that it can generates.

As much minimalism is in the art the color range allows to consists of forms, volumes and movements that constitute his daily landscape. While the "Fragments" seem millimetered and organized, it is the music of mood and gesture that takes over the technique. The simple line drawing transmits the materialism of the structures and the prospection of forms: these are patterns of movement and energy, and wave patterns in both natural and otherwise, of the whereabouts of the artist.

Mario Kolaric

Croatia

Emergent Artist

Mario Kolaric is a Croatian artist born in 1984. After several years of art studies in Zagreb, he began to host exhibitions in Croatia and gradually became a part of other European exhibitions in places like Vienna, Bologna, Berlin and Paris.

Whether drawing or working with volume, Mario Kolaric never considers the paper as a simple support but as an object in itself in which he can enter and not just scratch the surface. It is with this support that he is able to draw all possibilities.

The series "Diary Fragments" is part of a long-term project the artist has kept his sketchbook drawing daily for two years. It all begins in 2010: Mario Kolaric meets his books and embarks on this series. "Fragment 1" is then the true origin of the collection.
