Julie Hawkins

Translation in progress

Julie Hawkins is a passionate and creative, award winning artist and entrepreneur, who produces and sells bold and colourful abstract artwork.

Based in Woodstock, Ontario, Julie feels as though she discovered her talent and passion a bit later in life than most creatives. Holding a degree in Interior Design from Humber College, Julie left this practice behind, searching for more creative inspiration. It wasn't until she was convinced by friends and family to show her passion to the world that painting quickly became her full time career. Her first job started with a 15 piece collection for an upscale health facility in London, Ontario.

Other than London, Julie's art pieces can be found in many different cities, in private collections internationally. From art fairs, to runways and interior design exhibitions, Julie's work has been seen in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver, as well as Los Angeles and New York City. Partnering with Camouflage Heater, a company that produces infrared heating systems, customers are given the option to use one of Julie's designs as the imagery on the glass surface of the heater.

Julie Hawkins has been working with other select brands as well, licensing her artwork to be printed on various items such as clothing and tech accessories. The collaboration with Toronto apparel brand Nuvango was featured on the runway at Fashion Art Toronto in April 2016 — an arts and fashion week that recognizes contemporary art and fashion design.

2017 has brought a new, more spacious studio to create more large scale abstract pieces.

"There is a strong connection between my art and music. All of my paintings are named after songs or lyrics as a tribute. I have a large passion for music, as I do for art. I have music playing while I'm working most of the time, and absolutely cannot go without it while I'm painting. To me, music is energizing, almost my creative fuel. Being an artist, you're really baring your soul, and when you go to a concert, the musicians on stage are also putting themselves out there in front of everyone. I find live music to be the most inspiring experience to be a part of."
