Marie Montagnat

Born in: 1954

France

Marie Montagnat is a French artist born in 1954.

Even if she started drawing since childhood, her first orders were illustrations for the French Alpine club newspaper. Cartoons has influenced her style for many years. Marie Montagnat developed alongside her job as a Spanish teacher, her passion for humorous illustration inspired by her everyday life. In 1990, she started taking classes at the School of Fine Arts of Grenoble and it was until 2000 that she decided to dedicate exclusively to painting.

Marie Montagnat does mainly figurative paintings using various techniques such as: oil and acrylic, brush and knife.
In her work, the artist tell us about her childhood, moments of grace in everyday life; banal and intimate at the same time. Her paintings are characterized by warm colors, energy and movement.

Her recent solo exhibitions include: "Between Beaches and Summits" (Areches) in 2014, "Parentheses" (Areches) in 2013, "Cot Cot & BlaBlaBla" (Areches) in 2012, Espace Paul Jarguot in Crolles in 2011, Open Doors "Chartreuse Artists" in 2011, "I love what you do" (Areches) in 2011, "Childhood" at the Artyz gallery in 2010 and "Tour d'horizon" (Areches) in 2010.
