Behrouz Zindashti is one of the young and active artists in the eld of modern calligraphy, who, during the development of new trends in the modern Iranian calligraphy, has a considerable position among his generation. In the last decade, he has tried tirelessly to create an exclusive method so as to provide and present unique structures for the particular style of his calligraphy and eventually, he has achieved a novel aesthetics in his works, which best serve in his artistic language.

In the present experience, he, unlike the past, has addressed the improvised layouts of the letters and gurative gaming of Thuluth script from a painting standpoint and this is precisely here, where he in- terweaves the texture of writing, which is based on a modernist reading of the tradition of Siyah Mashq (Black Practice) with the dynamic colorings; however, he is in fact in search of new forms, combinations and interpretations of the integration of the media of calligraphy.

In the collection “The Passage”, due to the accurate understanding of the rhythm and visual movement, Zindashti has structured the pragmatics of his paintings on the basis of improvised written and devoid of meaning layouts and has reached a kind of speci c mental unity; in this artistic movement with a free perception of Jackson Pollock’s coloring style (Drip Painting) and, with no direct use of brush, he has created unbound and unrestrained frames of pictographs by pouring layers after layers of bright and rich colors; a fairly bold and event-based approach, which is devised in a fraction of seconds. Hence, this is the very “moment” that portrays an important function in his new works.

In this exhibition, Behrouz Zindashti has manifested the capacity of letters and forms of calligraphy through an expressive perspective and new statements in the forms of ten boards with unconventional sizes and eye-catching colors and seeks to go pass the borders of aesthetics through free layouts of col- ored lines and reach his personalized language in calligraphy.
