  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

This beautiful oil painting depicts a waterlily as seen from the depth of the water.
One gracefully flowered waterlily dominates the painting and flows from the right bottom corner into the top right corner of the painting.
The combination of this diagonal line and the curve of it creates a graceful upward sweep to the open flower and heavens above. The waterlily opens to a perfectly blue sky that takes us most of the top third of the painting. In the middle third of the painting, four deep green leaves are drifting on the top of the water. The lower third of the painting holds a delightful little fish with orange markings on the left-hand side. The bottom part of the painting is left a little vague with hints of water weeds and other murky plant life.

The contemporary Dutch painter Denise van er Burgh, paints exquisite oil paintings. Each painting is a delight of saturated and luminous colour.

The painting is sold by Gallery Sorelle Sciarone. The Gallery specialises in contemporary Dutch paintings.

Denise van der Burgh

Netherlands Born in: 1950

Denise van der Burgh is a Dutch artist that is inspired by colour and weaves a narrative into her surreal oil paintings. Sometimes she explores a country, a thought, social issue or history by combining language, colour and details into her paintings.

Viewing her work a story slowly unfurls from all the elements of the painting.

Narrative Art uses the power of the visual image to ignite imaginations, evoke emotions and capture universal cultural truths and aspirations. What distinguishes Narrative Art from other genres is its ability to narrate a story across diverse cultures, preserving it for future generations.
