  • About the artwork

Two iconoclasts artists born in 1970, Nicolas Charlet and Bruno Lavaine are two directors, screenwriters. and protean photographers . From their sixth grade, this duo started doing films together.

Their cinematographic creations are inspired by their love for photography and vice versa. The notebooks they use for the preparation of their shooting include the names of renowned photographers such as Martin Parr, Cartier Bresson, Lars Tunbjork......

The duo do not follow the classic codes of cinema, their creation is rather heterogeneous. Their aesthetic research is always grafted to their humorous and reflexive objectives. Their photographs are influenced by their experience on the seventh art, their use of robotic characters in their pieces is an example of this. This is why, Daft Punk went from the small screen to their photographs, always in a perpetual deconstruction of the norms and an unusual, artistic perpective. From pastiche to parody, their wit combines with their subtle humor to create refreshing photographs where the artists divert to cause an impact.

Their rise to success started when their begin working in Canal + in "Nulle Part Ailleurs" where they dedicated to divert cult movies. They then turned to writing and producing series, such as the adaptation of Frederic Beigbeder's novel "99 Francs". Afterwards they moved towards the production of their own feature films with famous actors such as: Kad Merad, Benoît Poelvoorde, Fred Testot... They succesfully diverted a pornographic film of 1979, the film was presented at the Palais de Tokyo before appearing in movie teathers all around he whole world. In it, they distill a flawless humor, the movie can be currently found in DVD-book.
