Yannick Fraud

Born in: 1963 France
Biography
For Yannick Fraud, “travel” has always been synonymous with “metropolis” and “emotions.” An urban traveler, Fraud prefers to lose himself in a city. After getting the must-see sights out of the way, the photographer allows himself to get sucked into the urban environment, walking with no destination in mind and taking in the mood of his surroundings.

It is during these long walks that seduction takes place: Fraud discovers the city through spaces that most passers-by would overlook. He forms a personal and intimate connection with the faces on the walls around him; they stare at him, they avoid him, they attract him. He regards street art as he regards works by Basquiat, Rauschenberg, Rothko, Twombly, or Warhol: with admiration and respect. Art resides in the street, he says, if you just open your eyes.
