    On the occasion of Patrick Zachmann’s book release So Long, China, the Éditions Xavier Barral offers a limited edition box set of 50 copies including the book and a signed and numbered B&W silver print: Whenzou, 1991.
    For over thirty years, Patrick Zachmann has traveled across China. From Hong Kong triads in the 1980’s to the mutation of the city of Beijing through Tiananmen Square protests, this book brings together around 350 B&W and colour photographs, in which the small and the great history meet in a changing country.

    Signed book in a box set, with a signed B&W silver print, produced with the support of PICTO lab in Paris.

Patrick Zachmann was born in 1955 in Paris. In 1976, he began photography as a freelance. Patrick Zachmann addresses various topics pertaining to societies, an aspect he has been studying for several years. His creations are a truly sociological. Immigration, suburbs, identity, memory are some of the themes the artist tackles. From 1982 until 1984, he began studying the integration of immigrants in the quarts of Northern Marseille. Simultaneously, he worked on the Neapolitan mafia and published "Madonna!". In 1989, he did a report on events about Tienanmen square in China and then immersed himself in the Chinese world. Through this immersion, he was able to create «W ou l’oeil d’un long-nez» and spoke about the Chinese diaspora. Patrick Zachmann received several awards especially the Niepce prize in 1989 and the special prize from the Gan Foundation for cinema in 2015 for his film project "Mister Wu". His works are exhibited all over France. In 2009, he presented his photos on the suburbs at the Cité nationale de l’histoire de l’immigration. The Mare/mater series in which he compares the history of migrants to his very own family experience, was subjected to an exhibition at the MuCEM in Marseille in 2013, but also at Musée Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône.
