Philippe Bonan

Born in: 1968

France

Emergent Artist

Philippe Bonan was born in 1968 in Amberieu in Bugey, during the heyday of the humanist photography of Brassai, Boubat, Doisneau. After meeting André Villers in 1986, he learned the technique of photography and took his first portrait of artist Jean Messagier. He collaborates with artists such as Keith Haring, Zao Wou Ki, Ben, Cesar, Arman, Robert Doisneau, Edouard Boubat, Richard Texier and French sculptor Louise Bourgeois. Philippe Bonan is interested in the daily life and the work of artists. His portraits are impregnated with a special sensitivity but they also display with a certain correctness. He is one of the photographers who follow closely French and foreigner artists, street artists or artists working with more traditional media, from the street to their studios. "Philippe takes pictures and collects the works of these artists. This is perhaps his secret: there is no separation between his art and his life."
