About the artwork

The "Fantasmas" series bring to us the experience the artist had in a 2015 trip in Cuba. Reality change continuously, so this moments shot by the artist became then ghosts as they represent physically a passed reality. These interrogations about the past and the present inspired the artist to talk about Cuba in this superpositions technique. The Caribbean colors makes us to feel as warm as we were there.

Algeria

Lola Khalfa is an Algerian artist born in 1988. She studied computer graphics at the University of BadjiMokhtar Annaba, but her artistic career includes graphic design and photography. Growing up in Algeria in the middle of a civil conflict and with her family engaged in the war, Lola Khalfa has place identity ( that of the individual and of the nation) as the center of her research and her native country becomes the foundation of her photographic and artistic quest. A strong person after growing up in an environment of constant struggle for human rights, Lola Khalfa plays with blurs and superpositions in order to create a contemplative approach, while including an important documentary and social power in her photographs. Lola Khalfa has been rewarded numerous times and her work has been exhibited in many exhibitions.
