RAE (Real Academia Espanola) defines 'Saudade' as solitude, nostalgia, homesickness; but only the ones that have lost the most powerful of its life knows the real strength of this word.

Saudade is what is left when you reach the certainty of the result of not returning home. It means missing with such intensity that even the body hurts. The value is distorted; because you already reach the top and now there is no peace in which to rest.

"Mother, the horror has invaded my spirit, my body became water, and I can no longer stand up. The sorrow inhabits me, makes me sick, I become the inexhaustible anguish which had the misfortune of finding what's important. What will become of me, if I have the certainty that I already reached the glory; for every step up, two are those who I descend. There's no top for this body drowned in apathy. Home has no longer exists, and as I try to pursuit It I do nothing but inhabit it. Return, or make me come back to you. But please do it soon or I'll go crazy waiting. Madness incites me all the time, I will not be able to escape from its beating. It looks for me, mother, it looks for me. Madness is looking for me and I'm on the verge of giving my soul to this clever devil who has promised to cover my shame."

Virginia Rota

Spain Born in: 1989
Born in 1989, Virginia Rota is a Spanish photographer and visual artist. She lives and works in Madrid.

In her images, the artist develops a poetic universe, whether through her portraits or her landscapes. Her portraits in particular have a characteristic, low luminosity. Virginia Rota manages to perfectly capture her subjects, by putting them in compositions that resemble paintings. This requires a lot of work, oneiric and dark at the same time and full of subtlety.

Her shots have already been rewarded, as was the case in 2016, year when Virginia Rota won the first prize at the Nexofoto contest. In addition, the artist regularly exhibits her work in galleries throughout Spain.
