  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

Using only the drypoint technique, printmaker Kim Westcott translates into her work the intimate vibrations of nature.

She depicts the abstract movements of the Australian landscape in all its diversity, from the Central Desert to the Southern coastline or the Great Dividing Range, a mountain range located near the place where the artist has been living since 2001, in the state of Victoria.

Kim Westcott works with large format copper plates that she scratches and then sprays various materials on them, pushing the conventional limits of etching. She often uses tools from industrial sectors to create her ornaments. She is open to the visual opportunities and to the lyrical dynamism of this method and uses the cavities created by the lines and the points she scratches on copper. She also applies this instinctive working style to her inking techniques that she uses in order to print her works directly on the copper plates.
