Eugène Baboulène

Born in: 1905

France

Eugène Baboulène was born on 18th August 1905 and died in 1994. He graduated from Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1936. He joined Ecole des Beaux Arts in Toulon as a teacher and mainly handled the decoration of Théâtre de la Ville. His encounter with Antoni Clave encouraged him to give up decoration and devote himself to painting. This is when his artistic success began. His fine observation was made up of soothing colors along with simple and warm atmospheres. He uses a vast range of colors, but with pastel tones and works around with harmonious patterns. He was mostly fond of seascapes and landscapes of the Provence, he was great at capturing the most elusive reflections. Since 1950, Baboulène is present in all artistic demonstrations. He received several awards including the Menton Biennial. Today, Eugène Baboulène is considered as one of the best painters of École Provençale Contemporaine. Extremely productive, the artist is legendary.
