Jacques Darbaud

France Born in: 1943
Jacques Darbaud aka Darbaud is an artist, born in 1943 in Aix en Provence. He studied in Paris at Académie de la Grande Chaumière, followed by Académie André Lhote. After his internship, he worked as a decorator for the cinema and television. In 1993, he went back to the South and opened his own sculpture studio.

His bronze on wood sculptures are an outcome of his fascination for Africa, this passion came into being when Darbaud discovered the works of the English sculptor, Herbert Ward. He depicts African women faces, through his sculptures in bronze on wood, which is also his artistic approach.

Darbaud's sculptures are regularly exhibited in France and Belgium, and are part of private French collections but also the ones abroad.
