Josephine Ekedi

Born in: 1978 Cameroon

Joséphine Ekedi was born in 1978 in Otelé, Cameroon Her father's Naval engineer professional, led her to discover Europe at a very young age. Initially she was an interior decorator in Paris before becoming a sculptor-artist. Today, she has left the jittery life of Paris and moved to Normandy.

She discovered a passion for fashion and beauty in Paris, but it's important for the artist to retain the color, body's sensuality, fantasy and her African culture's humor. In fact, she started to collect primitive art at a very early, in which she found unique visual strength. Her motto was and is still today: Enhance primitive art of my ancestors, by mixing it with contemporary art according to my own vision".

She reworks on the ancestral pieces with imagination and humor, in order to create a lively and an entirely contemporary style.
