Sophie Morisse
Born in 1962 in Mers-les-Bains.
A painting by Sophie Morisse is a kind of journey through time. Suddenly, you are the child you once were, with its sensations, pleasures and fears. Image after image, you are quickly captivated by the sharpness, humour and tenderness of the gaze of this artist who dances with fairies.
Her inspiration oscillates between nature and culture.
The women merge with the festoons of plants. Their features melt into it, or even merge with it. Is this a metaphor for what is apparently superficial, our true nature?
She admits to loving the toile de Jouy, which inspired her in the past for several canvases, painted directly on the printed canvas.
But since then it is the wallpapers of William Morris, their ramifications and convolutions that have invaded her paintings. She has allowed herself to be absorbed by their elegance, playing with their violent confrontation with dark or very light skinned bodies, with the very bright colours of the precious and shimmering fabrics of the clothes standing out against the complexity of the arabesques.
Sophie Morisse likes the incongruous, the surprise guests and encourages us to look for the little beast.
The canvases are strewn with butterflies, dogs, birds - especially birds - with long necks, long beaks, small passerines, noisy and quarrelsome parrots, silent night birds, which seem to surprise only the observers that we are but are a natural presence for the women and children featured on the canvases, their extensions, perhaps their totems in a way. These small incongruous beings make the air vibrate and cause confusion; is the wallpaper in the background really a wallpaper? But the birds seem to fly through it...
Sophie Morisse creates a particular atmosphere, between yesterday, today and tomorrow, she builds stories that allow her to tell the magical and poetic links that unite us, our roots, and to transmit them.

Michel Bassompierre
Born in 1948 in Paris.
Between extreme softness, roundness of lines and demanding materials, the artist unveils an unseen animal world for those who want to take the time to stop.
Elephants, gorillas, bears, horses... In the hands of the sculptor, the almost primitive brutality of the "wild" becomes delicacy, almost tranquillity...
We feel the love of man for "the beast", the attention paid to its future as well as the deep respect he has for it.
We won't talk about antropomorphism, no... But nevertheless, there is a formidable "humanity" that instinctively emerges from Michel Bassompierre's work.
Is it that of the artist or of his favourite subject?
Unless it is the result of the beautiful encounter between a raw nature and a generous and attentive man, listening to a fauna that is too often ignored.
