I chose this scene because I love to paint subjects of mothers and their offsprings. It evokes in me a feeling of softness and tenderness.

Danièle Désourdy

Canada Born in: 1969

Danièle Désourdy was born on March 15, 1969, in Farnham, Quebec, Canada. Since childhood, she feels a deep attachment to nature and the animals that she learns to draw from observers. Art has always been present in her life; her mother was a painter recognized in Quebec and internationally.

It was at FACE (Fine Arts Core Education) in Montreal, an art school, that she completed her high school studies. She then obtained a Diploma of Collegial Studies in Visual Arts at Cégep du Vieux Montréal and worked on numerous artistic projects.

In 1997, Danièle Désourdy created her own company: Les Objets Caméléon. A variety of decorative objects made, painted by hand, and distributed in several retail outlets in Quebec.

From 2002 to 2015, she put her career on hold to devote herself to her four children. Over the following years, a series of events encouraged her to go back to basics: artistic creation. Her passion for flora and fauna is more than ever at the heart of her artistic quest, which spurs her towards animal art. Birds or mammals, she exerts a precision and realism that leads us to believe that her subjects are alive. Internationally, she accepted an invitation from the prestigious Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and exhibited at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris in 2018.

In 2019, 2020, she received the public's favorite award twice; with the Association of Visual Arts Artists of Terrebonne and then in a competition exhibition at the Perkins Gallery.

In 2020, she won second prize in the Quebec stamp competition, organized by the Quebec Wildlife Foundation. At the start of 2021, she distinguished herself with the gold medal in the animal painter category at the International Prize for Art Professionals produced by Mondial Art Academia.

Recently, the Camelback Gallery awarded her a bronze and silver prize for two other competitions. It is in her studio in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, that Danièle Désourdy makes her works as a self-taught animal painter. Through her art, she shares with us the splendor and wisdom of animals.
