This work is a naïve representation of a Still Life. It is bold, brightly coloured and full of energy. The concept is simple, but what a dramatic presence it makes. The red in the foreground works beautifully with the copper and pale green wall-paper in the background. The tablecloth is fascinating in itself, with the heavy texturing allowing the underneath layers to show through, making a mottled effect of the green cloth. The middle ground pots are fillers in this work, helping to move the eye at ease around the canvas. The work is finished with glossy, black wide edges.
