About the artwork

This work is part of a series produced between fall 2021 and spring 2022. The black line is used not to separate but to connect. In the manner of Japanese Kintsugi art. This brings us back to a notion of resilience. At the pictorial level, the line gives a certain darkness to the color and this gives it a depth that transposes us to the depths of ourselves. The woman depicted cries out her life. She shouts it like a powerful song. The empty eyes represent the inner vision of itself. This cry is powerful because it says that despite the contexts of the time or those of our own lives, there is a powerful breath that is just waiting to come out. One could believe in a blind singer, everyone is free to see what they want. As an artist, I think that as soon as a work is looked at by another person, the meaning that we wanted to give it no longer belongs to us.

Born in 1960 in Valais, Switzerland, I come from a family related to gypsies. I had a tumultuous life until I was 30. I became a father at 32. at the age of 38, I trained as an educator followed by training as an institution director. I discovered the art quite young without thinking of practicing it one day. In 2011, a major health problem led me to practice sculpture and painting, while continuing to practice my profession. Today, I dedicate myself to my art.
