With the ambition to become an artist, Scott studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. In June 2000, he started with a diploma in illustration and engraving.
Much of his time is spent traveling across the country in search of inspiration for another depiction of the Scottish landscape. The many lakes, valleys and islands on the west coast are among his favorite subjects. Since 2004 Scott has lectured in the Creative Arts Department at West College Scotland.
These shifting horizons from dark to light are a metaphor for optimism and hope.
