Ibrahima Dieye was born on November 22, 1988 in the suburbs of Dakar. He is part of the young generation of painters from the department of plastic arts of the National School of Arts of Dakar. He develops a singular pictorial practice where he gives free rein to his imagination through collages of drawings and paintings in an immediately recognizable style.
He exhibits in 2014 for the OFF of the biennale in Dakar and Saint Louis, then starts a large production in 2016, exhibiting at the Atelier Céramique Almadies and at the National Gallery. He confirmed his promising status in 2017 with his presence at the Atiss Aissa Dione Gallery, the Galerie Polysémie Marseille at the Galerie Arte, the Galerie Valérie Delaunay in Paris and the AKKA Fair in Paris.
He observes his environment and is interested in the chaos around him. So from his works emerging very early mysterious signs and hybrid animals that meet like fables his urban daily life. The animal figures become human and symbolize in Ibrahima's great paintings the loss of Eden and the alienation of our wild nature.
