Patsheli Kahambo Kitange was born in 1990 in Kinshasa, Congo, where he lives and works. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, he explores the particular technique of foamed acrylic on canvas and on paper. His works address themes such as European domination, or the violence of migration.
Symbolist and committed painter, Patsheli explores with his paintings a universe of signs referring to that of cabarets and games. He paints his canvases in colors that he wants to be as garish as the hard-hitting social criticisms he lets appear in his works. His compositions with Pop accents mix characters, dice, tokens, cards, and numbers.
He was resident at the Blachère Foundation, at Atelier SAHM Brazzaville. He exhibited at the Sanaa Gallery, Austria (2019), at the Biennale OFF, Daker (2018), at the French Institute of Kinshasa (2015).
His work is part of the collections of the Blachère Foundation, ORICHA Paris, Trust Merchant Bank TMB, AN ROS Gallery.
