Presentation

Virginie Rasmont is a French artist based in Paris, specialized in collage on paper.

Deeply in love with colors, a passion transmitted by her uncle and her mother, both painters, she began to create with a therapeutic objective because art soothes certain emotions and (re)awakens others. She then decides to share her work to inspire and enrich the souls and hearts of the people around her. Virginie uses art to express her thoughts on humanity, society. Art allows him to let himself be guided by his inspiration and his imagination. It offers him a world of all possibilities, a dreamed and free world where the emotional takes precedence over the rational.

Virginie's work is a philosophical reflection on themes and values that are universal and timeless: femininity, joy, family, love to name a few. She holds up a mirror to our hectic lives, shows our areas of shadow and light. It crystallizes lived moments and captures the vibrations of the world to enlighten our hearts and souls. She invites us to step aside and observe our lives through a different prism, to question our sometimes too rigid points of view.

Although the themes addressed in her art are profound, Virginie's working process is intuitive and truly driven by her emotions. This duality reflects her personality as she is deeply rational but also empathetic and modest when it comes to expressing her feelings.

Virginie is an artist of cutting and assembling shapes and colors. Her influences are numerous, but three artists have especially marked her: Niki de Saint Phalle, Picasso and Matisse.

A scientist by training, Virginie has always enjoyed dissecting, deconstructing and analyzing situations under the microscope. But it does not stop at a simple fragmentation of things. She also grabs her telescope to take a step back from her existence and invites us to do the same. She recomposes scenes, portraits, situations of our lives. She plays with colors as the language of emotions. For her, “color has no meaning for intelligence but has all the power over sensitivity" (Delacroix).

Harmony and poetry are the key words of his creations.
