Presentation

Guillemette Schlumberger was born in Paris in 1966. She graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1991 and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in France and abroad (Belgium, USA, Brazil). His current work questions the Body. “I have always drawn faces, people. My characters are more figurative than represented. In the footsteps of Alice Neel, David Hockney or Lucian Freud, I try to create the “scene of the Other”, to grasp a state of mind, to perceive tiny things of a plastic and structural order, to invent fragments of history, present states. I want to create a very personal pose grammar. I like when the plasticity of the person comes up with the color and the shadow values. My universe is developed in a subtle body language, and like Egon Schiele, “I paint the light that radiates from bodies”.
