Born in Occitania, France. Artistic studies in Paris, illustrator, decorator, founder of an art school for image professions, creator of graphic salons dedicated to typography and illustration.

From the outset, an exhibition of the works of François Ruisseau brings an atmosphere of playful serenity. It is an art that gives a central place to poetry, to the dreamlike dimension.

François Ruisseau has practiced the technique of oil painting for many years, using an elaborate palette of colors: “Each stage of a painting is an adventure in itself; in my work, as for a filmmaker at the “moment of editing" a film, the search for colored harmonies and the light provided by color is the most complex and delicate phase, the moment when the whole meaning of 'work is played'.

Inspired by theater and travel, he strives to work on the “subject-object" relationship, narration and image. He builds in his works a graphic device proposing stagings, a mise-en-abîme of the subject. The layout of the plans encourages you to discover the different parts only gradually, and the colored atmospheres change according to the hours and the light.

On the question of drawing, François Ruisseau often uses perspective by plan echoing the Quattrocento, a perspective of illusion: “I want to embark the gaze of the observers of my paintings in this journey that the scenario proposes; they can then enter the work like actors discovering the setting of their new play for the first time. They enter a universe for a sensitive experience that encourages them to travel, to dream, to a form of peace and joy I hope! ".

The art of François Ruisseau maintains the precious link with references to the history of art.
