Violaine Vieillefond

Violaine Vieillefond is a French artist born in 1970. She lives and works in Paris and in her studio in Vitry-sur-Seine, where she was nourished since her childhood with mixed scientific and artistic influences, as well as a pronounced taste for time and space travels.

At 17, she discovers American Abstract Expressionisms, large formats, color-fields, as well as photography, that she will be practicing from that moment on, in parallel of her pictorial work. Engineer and plastic artist, she was always fascinated by the pictures and the experiences she lived during her scientific studies: moving colored fluids, micro and macrocosmic worlds, that will become part of her universe and influence her artistic approach.

The technique as well as the forms used, where hazard has a central role, bring the light on the movement of water in her paintings and its aesthetic and emotional potential. Her work brings us to a universe of metamorphosed forms, organic and cartographic, and leads us to a questioning of the living. It is in this link with nature, water in particular, as well as during her trips that she finds the material for her reflection.
