Brice Gelot

Brice Gelot is a contemporary French photographer who has gained a solid reputation for his raw and powerful black and white photography, known for his photojournalism, documenting street culture and the tattoo community.

As a photojournalist, his primary goal is to capture the essence of street life through his unique and distinct lens by documenting the lives of those on the margins of society, members of gangs and criminal organizations, the homeless, and drug addicts. Through his work, he seeks to inspire empathy and understanding for those who often go unnoticed or ignored, and aims to challenge the viewer's prejudices and highlight the resilience and strength of those who persevere in the face of adversity.

He is driven by the belief that images can be a powerful tool for social change and facilitate important conversations about the most pressing issues of our time to raise awareness and educate. He aims to help break down stereotypes and promote better understanding, as well as reflect on important issues such as poverty, street violence, humanitarian crises, social justice, and human rights.

His work is enjoying growing success worldwide, with publications and exhibitions in prestigious institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, Art Basel in Miami, the Biennale Artbox Expo in Venice, the Glasgow Art Gallery of Photography, and also the Enav Cultural Center in Tel Aviv-Yafo during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

In 2024, he won the World Masters of Photography, as well as numerous awards, which contributed to his recognition in the international photography community.

Brice Gelot expands his artistic field by also presenting portraits of famous artists, musicians and the beauty of women in collaboration with Playboy and Playboy France, highlighting the tattooed woman.

As a photojournalist, he values freedom of expression, actively engages in the field, and advocates for strong positions. He has published several books and photographic monographs that bring together these archives.

Brice Gelot currently lives in Dijon, France, where his art studio NSD51/50 is located.
