Presentation

Thomas Devaux became interested in images very early on, he experimented alongside his cinema studies with several media such as photography, experimental cinema, painting but also collage. His current work is situated between photography and painting, and allows him to pursue his research on the themes of the sacred and the profane.

In January 2012, the filmmaker David Lynch exhibited his photos at the inauguration of his Parisian venue Le Silencio. For Le Figaro, “her portraits of women captured during vernissages or fashion shows and then reworked digitally are of a timeless grace which elegantly denounces the ephemeral nature of beauty. Madonnas to die for for eternity. ".

At the end of 2012, some of his photographs entered several collections, including that of the prestigious National Library of France (BNF).

His work is then exhibited in galleries, museums and contemporary art fairs, in many countries, including South Korea, China, the United States, France, Belgium, Serbia, Russia or Hong Kong.

He was invited to present his work at the prestigious evenings of the ancient theater at the Rencontres internationales de la photographie d'Arles 2013 or at the Liège Biennale at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in 2014.

François Hébél, director of the Rencontres d'Arles, presented in 2012 during a conference in Amsterdam on "The Future of Photography" two photographers including Thomas Devaux; there he expressed great interest in the artist's composite photographs.

In 2015, a 25-minute documentary directed by Thomas Goupille (Cinq26) on the series The Shoppers was screened in preview at the European House of Photography (MEP), then scheduled in the Silencio cinema.

In 2016, her work on the Pietas will be exhibited at the Van Gaasbeek museum in Belgium alongside big names in contemporary art and photography (Cindy Sherman, Erwin Olaf, Wim Delvoye, Jan Fabre, Damien Hirst…).
