Biography
Marie De Rocca Serra lives in Paris and works in Ivry-sur-Seine.
She studied at the University of Paris VIII (plastic arts section) and benefited from the teaching of Michèle Casanova, plastic artist in her “plastic act” workshop. She also worked sculpture in the studio of Joe Neil, sculptor, teacher at the American School of Fine Arts in Paris (Parson's school).
The work of Marie De Rocca Serra, abstract expressionist, falls within the current of lyrical abstraction. The black color and its infinite variations represent an essential element of his painting.
"In Marie De Rocca Serra's painting, there is something destabilized, without reference, infinite, the incredible interior capsize at the sight of the tightrope walker on his wire. Her black canvases surround us, overturn us in a space that is transfigured.
Marie De Rocca Serra's black color flows, sculpts, flies away. She dances, hesitates, stretches out, tears herself apart. She lives."
