Presentation

Gaëlle Girbes is a French photo-journalist, born in 1976.

After having trained as a photo-journalist at EMI-CFD, Gaëlle Girbes became well-known 2006 onwards due to her POM creation (Little Multimedia work, mixing graphic creation, sound, photo and video), called «Regards de Caïds» at the «Territoires de Fictions» collective exhibition.

Her reports led her to Africa, South-East Asia and Eastern Europe but also to closer places though not easily accessible, like the circus or sports, or professional boxing or the gypsies in the Parisian region. For her, photo-journalism is most of all an adventure to meet people, whether it's about personal stories of these individuals or collective stories of these people.

Sometimes it happens that reports aren't enough, therefore she gives herself the freedom to try and transcribe more personal series like "Tango" or "Circus Life". Simultaneously, Gaëlle Girbes has also been assisting photographs namely Reza and Patrick Chuvel since 2010.
