Jérôme Bouscarat was born in 1967. He did his artistic training with the artist Philippe Rillon. He spent three years in Guadeloupe, where he worked hand in hand with the local artist, Ulysse Mécano, this experience made a major impact on him.
The artist's favorite leitmotiv remains portrait, the entire modernity lies in the combination of craziness, black comedy and classic references. Time periods and genres communicate and answer one another. One is close to academia and religious paintings at times, but also popular art. "I have a Caribbean background, due to my father, a culture which mixes the sacred and the non-believer. This has an influence on me". He is very careful with details and reveals the out of sync aspect in his works. Sometimes the subjects have animal heads, due to a quest for the strange and mysterious, creating an unusual universe, with hints of darkness.
This universe is regularly exhibited in mainland France but also Guadeloupe.
