Julia von Kienlin (b. 1970) is an illustrator and emerging fine artist from Germany. After receiving a BA in Graphic Arts and Design at the Munich Academy of Graphic Arts and Design in 1995, she worked as an illustrator for several years before turning to Fine Art in 2020.
Highly inspired by Japanese art and modern Manga, and works by Botticelli, Toulouse-Lautrec, Alice Neel, Sylvia Sleigh , the artist portraits her subjects in their state of minds, their search for meaning. By choosing young people, Julia addresses also themes of longing, but also defiance and rebellion.
Von Kienlin has exhibited in group shows in Germany and has been working extensively on commissions.
The artist is currently living and working in Munich, Germany.
