Presentation
Self-taught Haitian artist Jean-Adrien Seide was born in Cayes in 1952. He moved to Venezuela when his father passed away. He paints extremely structured landscapes, with a series of fields spreading out towards a distant horizon. At first glance, his paintings look representational, but a more detailed examination leads to a fascination, and the fantastic element predominates over the immediate reality.
He has exhibited in Haiti, Ottawa, Montreal, and Miami. "Horizontal lines evoking fields cross the vertical lines of trees to create a coherent landscape." (Peintres Haitiens by Gérald Alexis). His art is internationally collected and exhibited.
