Angela Carli was born in Siena (Italy) in 1978. She has been painting since her childhood.
She graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Siena “Duccio di Buoninsegna” then from the School of Fine Arts in Florence.
Angela Carli works mainly on iconic female subjects, with a modern style and bright, contrasting and dynamic colors, like the characters represented.
Her approach is a tribute to women. These women who are often strong, fragile, tender, controversial. In our patriarchal society, they led battles for freedom, they are heroines who fought for their emancipation, their individuality and their independence.
She likes to paint their eyes…they are shiny, moving, twinkling…! They are the door to the soul and illuminate the whole face and give endless emotions.
When she paints a face she always starts with the eyes: this is the key that unlocks the rest of the painting. When she can't do them the way she wants, she destroys the canvas!
After giving painting lessons in her own academy, she worked in several galleries in Italy and France.
