Biography

Lorenzo Maria Bottari was born in Palermo in 1949, he lives and works in Milan. In his life he has met great artists such as Ibrahim Kodra, Corrado Cagli, Wilfredo Lam, Giorgio de Chirico and Renato Guttuso, whom he presented in the catalog of the exhibition “Cattedrale di Palermo" in the historic Galleria Schettini in Milan in 1980. In 1986 Walter Schoenenberger, Director of the Lugano Museums, presented Bottari's work “I casi dell'Amore" in the Lugano gallery in Lugano. In 1995, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Rudolph Valentino, he organized a traveling exhibition in Italy and abroad, inspired by the great movie legend. In 1999 he was invited by the “Carlo Collodi" National Foundation and presented an exhibition of his interpretations of the tarot cards with characters from the fairy tale of Pinocchio. In 2003 Alda Merini wrote the poem “La luna" for Lorenzo Maria Bottari, who interpreted it pictorially for Magica Luna, curated by Chicca Morone, Circolo della Stampa Torino. Lorenzo Maria Bottari's exhibitions have been held in many European cities and also overseas. His paintings and printmaking are in prestigious public collections including: Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea, Marsala (Trapani), Fondation Cercle Des Amis De Rudolf Nureyev, Paris, Italian Cultural Institute, New York USA; Salzburg Cultural Department Palace.
