Svätopluk Mikyta is one of the most respected artists of his generation in Slovakia with an international reputation. In 2008 he won the "Young Visual Artists Award" and was named the best young artist in Slovakia. In 2011, he won the internationally prestigious STRABAG Art Award in Vienna.
Mikyta became known for oversigning old book pages, some of which he assembled into large installations. These works have been purchased by public collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the MUDAM Museum Luxembourg. Mikyta has consistently developed his art over the past 20 years, creating a diversity worth seeing, within which everything remains connected by a common thread along the objet trouvé and upcycling.
